Stephanie's Sketch
This is the sketch that won out of the other ten I had. It's of an infant/toddler girl sitting on a person's shoulders. I'm thinking about using other materials for her hair bow, and then I'm thinking about making her heart/internal organs show through the wire- kind of to show the fragility of youth? Or something like that! Any ideas/improvements?

I really like this idea! The internal organs might be hard to do but would have a lasting effect. Making the bow out of different material would help enhance the youthfulness you're trying to portray.
ReplyDeleteI think the internal organs is a great idea as well, would you use other materials for them? If so I think it would balance out with the bow.
ReplyDeleteYou had ten other sketches? If you want to show the internal stuff, Mia's idea for the bow works, but an actual mini heart (like some of the ones from stuffed animals) works PERFECTLY. It would go really well against the wire too, regardless of how it was colored. Good idea though. Are you going to show both faces?
ReplyDeleteI really like the idea of the exposed internals, I am a huge fan of organs! Also your moquette today looked really good! I was just wondering how this would be worn?! And how big you plan on making it?
ReplyDeleteThe internal organs might stand out more if they were another color. Maybe they could be wrapped with ribbon or some other bright medium to contrast the dark wire. This would also show how fragile she is, because her vital parts would be vulnerable under her frame.
ReplyDeleteI really like your idea especially with the concept of the fragility of youth. Your moquette was really good yesterday, and maybe it was only because you were working in such a small form, but one thing you may want to be careful of is your proportions. It looked more like that of a miniature adult rather than a toddler. Toddlers seem to have larger heads and shorter, stubbier limbs, just a suggestion.
ReplyDeleteI really like this idea. The idea of representing frailty through the organs is interesting. One suggestion I might make would be to incorporate bright eyes somehow. The eyes are what stand out the most on my daughter and it really shows personality
ReplyDeleteThanks for your input guys! The larger version would just sit on my shoulders like i'm giving it a shoulder ride (if thats what it's called), so I plan on making it life-sized for a toddler so maybe like two feet tall? Laura- your completely right. I was trying to pin why it didn't look right to me, and that's totally it. I was planning on using clay and sculpt out the organs and paint them, but I like the idea about the teddy bear heart too- and I really like the idea about wrapping them in ribbon! Thanks!!
