Pat's wire project idea

Ok so my primary idea is to make a cast out of fabric of my wife's face kissing me on the cheek and attach that to the wire frame, maybe have just the face in fabric. Not sure yet. Definitely open to input.

  1. I really like this idea, I was playing around with full figures too, but I decided I couldn't finish it in time. (i'm not too good at 3d haha) I say go for it! I think it could be cool either way. I don't know if you know of this artist already, but your idea reminds me of Bert Simon's work. I know there are some more who specifically use sculpture and then paste pictures of the person onto it and get a similar effect, but I can't remember their names at the moment...

  2. This is a really cute idea. I agree with Stephanie, go for it! The woven wire arms are going to look really good. Any idea on what kind of fabric you'd use?

  3. Awe that is sweet! I think it is a great idea. You should lightly wrap the wire around an arm to get an arm-like cast.

  4. I say play around with the color and the fabrics. It might even look better without color or just different colors of wire, you never know. Maybe look at what areas are most important- like the lips and arms (or whatever you think) and just make those very detailed and the rest more of just an outline? It could draw the viewer's eyes to what you want emphasized. I like the idea of having the one arm coming straight up because it also draws people to your faces.

  5. I really like that idea it seems very intresting and meaningful. the casting is definately a good idea as well. IF you do her face i think that that shoul dhave a wire fram underneath and maybe plaster instead of cloth

  6. I really like your idea Patrick! It kind of reminds me of when people wrap their own arms around their back and it looks like someone is hugging them. haha! I definately think that you should go for it!!
