Andrew's Sketch Idea

This is my wire sculpture idea. I wanted to take the term brace face to the next level. By placing actual train tracks around the head of the person who wears it. Everything is made out of wire, except for the tracks which will be made out of thin sheets of balsa wood, or something similar to that. The track around the head will be supported by the wire that will be placed in the mouth as a mouth guard. I think the wires light enough to stay up. If not then I plan on using wire to hold up the tracks as they rest on the person's shoulders. If you have any other ideas as to how i can keep the tracks from falling down please let me know... thanks

Wire Structure Meaning

Alright...so I've been thinking about why I want to make an object in a genre such as the one I am crafting.  And I've come up with a little bit, I'll try to remember as I go.

For as long as I've been able to understand the concept of sexual interaction and orientation, I've always been curious as to why some people are very close-minded about the idea.  There are numerous outspoken groups that speak up for sexual ideas.

Why shouldn't they?

And why are a large portion of people unable to speak up for themselves?  Because, simply put, they are afraid it will tarnish their image.  The reality is, speaking up about action and orientation shows a great deal of confidence within a person.  Not necessarily that they don't care what people think, but that they want others to think the same way.  I believe that I belong to this group that enjoys expressing a sexual mindset.  That does not mean I go run around and creep on people, or that I run around playgrounds naked.  But that I am a sexual being and  I thoroughly enjoy the concept of two beings coalescing with one another.

I want more people open to this idea, and I don't want anyone to be afraid of having these thoughts or ideas in their head.  They are a part of human nature, and as such, need not be a taboo on our politically correct society.  So, my piece will revolve around people noticing, and believe me they will, my representation of the impact of sexuality on society.  To most, if not all of you, my piece will be ridiculous.  But please...please, try not to only think of it as a physical object, but more like a metaphysical object.  An object representing an idea.

I look forward to presenting my concept once it is finished.

Wire Concept 1

Alright, so I'm brand new to the whole concept of spinning wire and whatnot...but instead of thinking up 5 different concepts and spreading myself thin, I will just create 5 different objects for one concept.

Sorry for the rudimentary way to show it, but I honestly can't think of any other way to show how the wire will form.

Basically I am going to create 5 wire "appendages" - (Considering doing fingers) One for each arm, one for each leg, and one for either the head or for the male reproductive organ.

Yeah, that's what I said.  I believe that it will get everyone's attention, and it is definitely something unique.  Artists with phallic symbolism or content have been getting attention for years, I do not see why I can not continue such a trend.

If you don't like it or are offended in any way...too bad.

Essentially, all of the wire would wrap around the wearer, where a string of the wire will connect across the back, around the waist, and down the torso, so as to attach each piece together.  I am hoping this will be strong enough to hold, the wire shouldn't weigh too much.  If this does not work, I will consider other options regarding how to connect each piece to another.

I plan on adding more pictures as I figure out how to work with wire (please don't mark me down for not enough pictures, Lynette.  This is all I can think of to represent my idea at the moment).

Kacie's Wire Project Ideas

One of my ideas is to make a corset. I've been playing around with the design of the corset. I might try to use ribbon or lace as extra materials, but, I would also want to see what it might look like if I made what looks like lace and ribbon from wire.

My other idea was to make a wire sleeve that resembled a tattoo sleeve. It would be a cohesive design that wrapped around my arm. I think I could get really creative with this one, but, it might be a lot harder to do. Somehow adding color might be nice. Maybe with some string or a colored medium. Not sure yet.

Mia's wire sketches

This a bird's beak attached to wings as well, which would be worn on the face and connect down the back somehow.
This is a wire boot idea...
This is a wire bird beak idea that would attach to the face and head somehow...
This is a wire hat idea...

This is a wire dress idea...there will be a lot more details later.

Stephanie's Sketch

This is the sketch that won out of the other ten I had. It's of an infant/toddler girl sitting on a person's shoulders. I'm thinking about using other materials for her hair bow, and then I'm thinking about making her heart/internal organs show through the wire- kind of to show the fragility of youth? Or something like that! Any ideas/improvements?

concepts

the first idea is a backpack demon wings and the second is a greek helm and possibly armor to go along with it

My idea is too make a skeleton necklace. I came up with this idea mainly because I like skeleton stuff. So I googled skeletons so that I can make it look some what accurate. Anyways I was planing on MAYBE painting the skeleton a pearl white or a mocha brown color for character.

Cheesy Disguise or No Cheesy Diguise? That's the Question

After a lot of thinking and decision making, I finally decided to do a disguise mustache ring. I got the idea from a joke that some of my high school friends and I had about using our fingers as fake mustaches to disguise ourselves (and for those of you who watch Family Guy may recall the episode where Peter did it). I figured that it would work somewhat better if I made an actual mustache model to go on my finger (and maybe fool people who are extremely gullible, but not really!) I always love laughing so I figured I could use this to make others laugh as well. Feedback is much appreciated. (Especially if you have any ideas for something else that should go with it because I cannot think of anything!)

Wearable Wire

My main idea is to create a wire umbrella. I plan on making the actual umbrella and handle with a thicker gauge wire while adding thinner gauge wire streaming down from the umbrella. From that thinner gauge wire I want to string teardrop shaped beads to act as raindrops, so whoever holds the umbrella is basically going to be trapped within the curtain of raindrops. On the actual umbrella, I want to incorporate a repetitive daisy like pattern. I have a feeling this project is going to be frustrating and difficult for me as I'm not good at maneuvering wire, so I may leave out the pattern if I get rushed on time.
Also, I think it would be cool to incorporate some sort of animal head into the base of the umbrella handle, but I don't know what animal to do or if it would detract too much from the other parts of the piece.

Pat's wire project idea

Ok so my primary idea is to make a cast out of fabric of my wife's face kissing me on the cheek and attach that to the wire frame, maybe have just the face in fabric. Not sure yet. Definitely open to input.

Hannah's Wire Sketches

Out of all my ideas, I would say that the one I'm most interested in doing is some kind of mask. The sketch I have come up with is just a rough copy/idea. I haven't decided exactly how I want it to look or what other material I will incorporate with it but I am looking forward to experimenting. However, I do know that I want it to be a decorative piece. If you have any suggestions feel free to let me know :)

Another idea that I had was to make a watch. It would be fairly large, almost laughable. To make it pop, I would make the numbers come off of the surface with pieces of wire. The pictures will hopefully help you visualize what I mean.

Morgan's wire sketches

The design on the left is a tutu-ish wrap around type thing, the drawing isn't very accurate to the idea, but basically the wires would come off the waist about 18inches, and be completely perpendicular to the body, and create a perfect circle. I would have some sort of decor hanging down from the ends of the wire although I am not sure about what to use at the moment.

The one on the right was my first idea, and probably the one I am leaning towards. I wanted to create a Lady Gaga inspired head dress. Around the neck would be a big nest of black feathers supported by a wire structure, and protruding from the back of the neck would be a fan of different sized wires, peacock feathers, and beads, or pretty much anything I can find.

Suggestions?

Bianca's Wire Sculpture

I'm having a hard time narrowing down my ideas for this project but so far I've come up two designs I'd like to create. The first is a bow belt. The actual belt part and the outline of the bow would be thick gauged wire. Thinner wire and colored yarn would connect the three segments on each side.

My other idea is a summer type dress. I would use thick gauged wire for the majority of it. I'd like to have all or most the wires connect at one point in front of or above the shoulder. At the intersecting point I'd like to use fabric and wire to make a bow or complex shape all the wires would connect to. I am also considering having string or fabric hanging from the intersecting point, but I think it would make it too busy. I'd like to be ambitious enough to do a dress, however I'm having a hard time coming up with a way to make it easily removable, any ideas?

Meg's Wire Sculpture

One of my ideas for the wearable wire sculpture project is a Sea Turtle Helmet. I would construct him using three different gauges of wire. The other material I'd use would be green beads for the shell. I would bead them on the thinnner wire and weave it on the shell. There would be a hole at the underside of his shell in order to wear him as a helmet.
Another one of my ideas is to make a Cancer Awarness Ribbon Armband. It would cuff around the top of the arm symbolizing strength/fight. I would constuct this arm cuff using two different gauges of wire. The thicker wire would be for the outside "skeleton" and the thinner wire would be to fill in the open space. I would use purple/pink beads on the thin wire to give it color and meaning.
